Arts Therapy uses a combination of creative expression and verbal counselling. Time will be spent establishing your goals for therapy and we will keep checking in with how these are progressing. We can also adapt the aims as we go to keep your work relevant.

Unlike an art class, the creative process is valued over the artwork itself, so you don’t need any previous experience or skill in art-making!

A range of arts modalities are employed such as movement and gesture, visual arts, writing and story, music, and sand play to facilitate the process.

We can move between forms of expression, or work in one that suits you and what you need to communicate. Processes and arts modalities are suggested in a strategic response to your unfolding needs.

Arts Therapy is person-centred, which honors you as the authority in your own life. There is no interpretation of the art by the therapist (clients are encouraged to find their own meaning).
